Digital X-rays

Digital X-rays are one of the advanced diagnostic tools we use to provide you with the best possible care. Digital radiography has changed the way we take dental X-rays by making the process faster, more comfortable, and more convenient than ever before. Digital X-rays use a digital sensor to take images of your teeth, unlike traditional X-rays that use film. Digital X-rays use significantly less radiation than conventional film X-rays, and they require the use of no chemicals for developing the images. Our dentist can then instantly view the high-quality images on monitors right in the treatment room to provide you with efficient, accurate diagnoses and care. Our team is able to use digital radiography to identify and diagnose several types of dental problems, such as:

What’s the difference between a CEREC same-day crown and a traditional crown?

Thanks to CEREC technology, you won’t have to wait weeks for your crown to come back from a lab and you can avoid the messy impressions required with traditional crowns. 

Same-day crowns also maintain the strength of your tooth because they often require less drilling, and therefore more of your natural tooth is saved. In addition, CEREC same-day crowns prevent further decay because the crowns are applied immediately. 

What are the advantages of CEREC same-day veneers?

How do I care for my CEREC porcelain veneers?

Once you receive your CEREC porcelain veneers, you should continue to see Dr. Snider bi-annually for checkups and cleanings while continuing to maintain good oral hygiene habits. 

In addition to following the care guidelines given by Dr. Snider, you may want to avoid biting your nails or anything that applies added force on your teeth to avoid chipping. To prevent staining your veneers, steer clear of smoking and foods and beverages that are linked to tooth discoloration such as coffee, tea, and red wine.

Are there any side effects of dental x-rays?

Dental x-rays give off a very low level of radiation, which makes the risks of potentially harmful effects very small. Here at Lake Country Dental, we use digital x-rays which emit 80% less radiation than traditional dental x-rays, making this a much safer alternative to the standard imaging process.
